The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) was established on June 8, 1993, as the regulatory authority for the country’s capital market, operating under the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Act of 1993. The Commission’s primary objectives are to safeguard the interests of investors in securities, foster the development of the securities market, and formulate regulations pertaining to related matters. Comprising a Chairman and four Commissioners, all appointed full-time by the Government, the Chairman serves as the Chief Executive of the Commission. The BSEC is a statutory body affiliated with the Ministry of Finance. Recognized as an ‘A’ category member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) since December 22, 2013, the Commission plays a crucial role in overseeing and regulating the securities market in Bangladesh.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE)
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) was incorporated in 1954 and the formal trading was started in 1956. DSE is registered as a Public Limited Company and its activities are regulated by its Articles of Association rules & regulations and bye-laws along with the Securities and Exchange Ordinance, 1969, Companies Act 1994 & Securities & Exchange Commission Act, 1993. At present, there are 448 securities listed with the DSE.
